After the Chinook

Description

One night of warm winds is all it takes to melt a foot of snow and reveal the yellow buffalo grass that’s a hallmark of north-central New Mexico.

This photograph does not show the depth of blue in the painting well. It does show the texture in the sky, as I slathered it on with a palette knife, trying to capture the colors, but also the movement of the sparse clouds.

This is a very small painting (basically a miniature) at 5.75″ x 3.75″, but packed with subtle details. It deserves a spotlight.

Acrylic on board, varnished and framed to 7.25″x 5.5″.
